How the estimate works
Distance avoided = return distance × journeys per week × active weeks.
CO₂e avoided = distance avoided × selected vehicle factor. Vehicle factors are direct operational emissions from the UK Government's 2026 greenhouse-gas conversion factors. They exclude vehicle manufacture, road infrastructure and the lifecycle impact of the replacement activity.
Fuel avoided uses the mpg value you provide. Fuel energy is an indicative estimate using 9.4 kWh per litre. Actual consumption varies with the vehicle, traffic, weather and driving style.
